Walking to Burn Fat

 Food is such an important part of life. It is  Panalean Review  comforting, it is social and it is necessary. So what do we do? How we feel about ourselves is important. The more we accept and love ourselves 'as is', the more we want to do the things that keep up fit and healthy. I always say that the level of our discipline is proportional to our level of self-esteem. It is simple really. 

In North America we eat a lot of processed food and fast food. It is missing the nutrients we need and has stuff added to it that is not beneficial to us. When I took my nutrition course a few years ago, I learned to do most of my grocery shopping from the outside perimeter of the store. That would be the fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. There are times when we need to shop in the middle, but I think that you have the gist of it. Eat lots of vegetables and fruit and eat lean meat. Protein is important for our muscles. Vegetables should be cooked so that they are just a little crisp or not cooked at all (which is even better). Carbohydrates are necessary but not in the proportion that we in North America consume. 

Refined carbohydrates should be avoided. Sugar is a good example of a refined carbohydrate. Did you know that many vegetables have good (or complex) carbohydrates in them? Beans have carbohydrates as well as protein, which makes them a great food. Always each breakfast. You need to wake up your metabolism so that you can burn off calories throughout your day. I used to say that if I did not eat breakfast I would not be hungry for quite a while. And that was because my metabolism was asleep and not requiring fuel. No fuel, no fire!
